Civil service preparation has gone through many changes in recent years. The aspirants are no longer confined to books and newspapers for their preparation. IAS Prep study material available on the internet, especially YouTube channels, has been playing a key role in an aspirant’s journey towards success.
For the benefit of aspirants who are appearing in the UPSC Civil Services Exam in 2018 and 2019, we are providing the list of "Best YouTube Channels for IAS Exam". The list has been prepared by taking into consideration several factors like - relevance to the exam, quality of content and the popularity. The list includes eight channels that are run by the government, reputed coaching institutes and former civil servants.

1. Rajya Sabha TV
It is the official channel of the Rajya Sabha. In this channel, aspirants can watch the live telecast of the debates on important issues in the house, interviews of the ministers and top officials, and special programmes on government-sponsored schemes on various issues.
Video sections like - Policy Watch, Science Monitor, World Panorama, Political Theatre, India’s World, Talking History, To the Point and Security Scan cater to the special needs of the civil services aspirants. Objectivity in the coverage of social and political issues and involvement of experts in the preparation of the content makes it ‘authentic’ and much useful for the mains and interview preparation.

2. Lok Sabha TV
Similar to the Rajya Sabha, it is the official channel of the lower house of the Parliament i.e. Lok Sabha. Besides the live coverage of the proceedings of the house, it also produces and telecasts a whole range of programmes on issues relating to democracy, governance, social, economic and constitutional issues and citizens’ concerns.
Debates, discussions and documentaries, as well as programmes on culture and award-winning films in different Indian languages are important elements in the programmes of the channel.

3. egyankoshIGNOU
It is run by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). Lectures and panel discussions by experts and academicians give the aspirants an in depth understanding of various issues. The channel is much helpful for the optional subjects like – History, Public Administration and Sociology. The simplicity of the content and emphasis on the conceptual clarity matches well with the requirements of the UPSC aspirants.
4. PIB India
The channel is run by the Press Information Bureau, which is the nodal and the official agency for dissemination of information shared by the Government of India. Press briefings by top officials and ministers, videos on government schemes, coverage of foreign tours by the Prime Minister and live events covering launch of government programmes give an insight into the working of the government and the steps taken to address various social and economic concerns.
5. Jagran Josh
It is an initiative of the Jagran Prakashan Ltd to serve the growing needs of the competitive exam aspirants. The channel provides high quality content tailor-made for IAS exam aspirants. Detailed interviews of UPSC Civils Exam toppers (including that of Top 10) give an insight into the preparation strategies of toppers, their study material and more importantly their attitude towards the Civil Services Examination.
The weekly Current Affairs series (English as well as Hindi) provides detailed analysis of events and issues of the preceding week in national, international, economy, sports and science and technology arenas. 
6. Unacademy
It was started by an ex-IAS officer Roman Saini and his friends to provide high quality video content for competitive exam aspirants with special emphasis on civil services aspirants. With over 1 million subscribers, the chanel has become a must watch for current affairs issues, summary of NCERTs, preparation strategies of toppers, ‘The Hindu’ summaries and India through maps, etc.
The dynamism and energy of the broadcasters, live shows by Roman Saini to answer the questions of aspirants and brief yet highly useful nature of videos are added attractions of the channel.
7. Mrunal Patel
It is run by Mrunal Patel, who is better known among the ‘civil services aspirants’ tribe for his in-depth analysis, lucid language, exam orientation, use of graphics and PPTs. The channel contains scores of videos that guide the beginners and ‘senior’ aspirants alike with detailed coverage of the budget and economic survey, interviews of toppers and video lecture series on optional subjects.

8. Vision IAS
It is run by the VISION IAS, which is one of India’s premier coaching institutes for civil services aspirants. The channel broadcasts important discussions and classes related to Civil services Preparation. The uniqueness of the channel is - it contains videos of online classes by eminent faculty and they are accessible to aspirants free of cost.
Besides the video lectures, the channel provides useful information such as – sessions by the toppers, answer writing strategies, DAF filling instructions, interview tips, etc. For those who cannot afford to stay in Delhi, this channel fulfils their needs to a great extent.
